INAUG. CENTENO3

Her brand, as with all of her projects, is based on three fundamental pillars: Interior Design, Product Design and Graphic Design. Soraya understands each project as a whole; she works from a holistic perspective: these comprise the foundation which allows her to engage in all phases of the process.

Currently, Soraya Pla leads her own design studio, in which involvement in each project, close contact with clients and understanding of their needs are the keys to her success. Simple, pragmatic and result-oriented, Soraya Pla breathes creativity. She is curious  about everything that surrounds her and her work is based on observation and research. The designer always likes to explore the potential of shapes and create links between designer, craftsman and client. Her passion is to provide a distinct added value to her projects with the aim of improving the lives of her clients and their companies.

Now, Soraya Pla rests on her second surname, Centeno, her artistic work.

A plastic exercise developed with a surprising sensitivity in which she elegantly fuses digital art with hand drawings of great skill and interventions with resins to express the constant dance between her emotions, fears and hopes showing her mind in different scenarios of reflection and meditation.

Her work is more than a simple visual representation; it is an invitation to an inner journey, accompanying thoughts to leave the mind with softness and elegance in search of an idyllic spiritual serenity. Inspired by the process of meditation, the work plunges into the blackness of the mind and emerges with chiaroscuro, like rays of light piercing a dense fog.

Blackness is a fundamental element in Soraya’s personal process of meditation and plays a central role in her artistic work. The choice of black as an integral part of her creative process is a reflection of the deep connection she finds between her meditative practice and artistic creation.

In meditation, blackness represents for her the emptiness, stillness and calm that one seeks to find within oneself. It is in that dark and silent space where the deepest corners of the mind can be explored, where thoughts dissipate and mental clarity opens up. Soraya finds in that darkness a refuge for the mind.

In her work, blackness is not only an aesthetic element, but also a symbol of this inner space. Her paintings capture the essence of meditation by depicting the mind immersed in darkness, as if plunged into the depths of consciousness. Through chiaroscuro, she reveals flashes of light that symbolize the enlightenment and understanding that emerge from introspection. The blackness in her work acts as a blank canvas where thoughts and emotions can take shape and express themselves freely. It is a reminder that meditation is not about running away from darkness, but embracing it as an integral part of the human experience. In darkness, we find the basis from which light can emerge, and in that interplay between shadows and lights, Soraya explores the richness and complexity of the viewer’s gaze.

Thus, the blackness in her meditation process and her artistic work becomes a means to explore the depth of human psychology as a function of the observer, to examine the mysteries of the mind and to offer an invitation to viewers to immerse themselves in their own inner journey.
